Radiance FR84 – First UV Curable Top-Coat to Provide An E-84 Class A Rating

Radiance, innovators in Industrial Coatings technologies, is proud to introduce FR84, a unique one part UV curable flame retardant coating for application onto most wood surfaces.  FR84 is a clear top-coat designed for high volume applications due to its extremely fast cure time.  The coating is available from authorized distributors or directly from Chase Corporation Radiance-Coatings.

Radiance FR84 is a clear top-coat and present an exceptional finish quality on wood surfaces.  The Radiance FR84 can be applied on most wood surfaces by spray, roll coat or brush.  The material will completely cure in seconds when irradiated by UV light.  Once cured, FR84 will provide excellent adhesion and abrasion resistance.

Radiance FR84 was formulated to be applied on interior structures such as furniture, wall paneling, and structures requiring Class-A flammability rating.    ASTM E-84 testing for FR84, resulted in a flame spread of 20 and smoke density of 200, which gives it a Class A rating.  FR84 contains high solids and is compliant with most stringent air quality programs.

Features Benefits
E-84 Class A rating FR84 meets low flame spread and smoke density requirements
100% UV cure Low WIP, no secondary cure mechanism required.  Maximum crosslink density achieved after UV exposure
Finish quality Can be modified to meet customer specific requirements
High adhesion Good adhesion to most wood substrates
High abrasion resistance Extremely durable
High solids Environmental health and safety advantage
Ease of application Easily applied by spray, roll coat or brush method
Lower cost to use More cost efficient than current impregnation method
No Moisture Sensitivity Use of handling, storage, and application types

Keith Waryold (VP, Industrial Materials, and Technology) said “Based on our UV technology expertise, our Research & Development team has created a robust UV flame-retardant coating for architectural applications where wood veneer and lamination constructions are utilized.  This critically enabling safety feature has gotten us excited to bring this solution to the industry.  Our Radiance team has delivered at the request of the market, another novel technology which capitalizes upon one of our core competencies for high throughput protective coating applications.

Radiance Launches CF10 – A Novel Protective Coating For Connector Applications

Chase Corporation, a leading manufacturer of protective materials for high reliability applications has announced the launch of a new product in its Industrial Coatings business designed to deliver a cost effective, reliable protective barrier developed specifically for connectors. RADIANCE CF10, compliant to UL 2238, was created for the medical industry initially but its performance characteristics makes it ideally suited to any application that is subject to adverse operating conditions such as high humidity or chemical exposure.

CF10 is a single component UV curing gel that has been specifically developed to meet the demanding needs in applications that commonly use connectors such as those used in the medical sector. These connectors are often exposed to extreme operating environments that can result in corrosion or failure. The protective gel is used as a potting contact boundary to prevent ingress moisture and other particulates, additionally as a strong dielectric barrier in pin to cable connections.

The product is designed to be cured to a tack free surface by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light.   Moisture secondary curing mechanism completes the polymer cross linking process. The secondary cure mechanism of RADIANCE CF10 utilizes ambient moisture to complete the process for unexposed / shadowed areas. An added enhancement provided by the secondary curing process is that it imparts additional adhesion and chemical resistance to the coating. Lastly, RADIANCE CF10 once cured, provides adhesive staking attributes for the connectors which provides added tamper resistance when in use.

Chase Corporation is a leading manufacturer of protective materials for high reliability applications. For over 60 years it has been developing high performance Industrial Coatings, Tapes, Adhesives and Sealants that are marketed under brand names recognized as the most trusted in their respective industries. Founded in 1946 it has grown to become a leading manufacturer of industrial coatings and tapes for high reliability applications with a global customer base operating in diverse market sectors.

Commenting on the product launch, Keith Waryold, Global Business Unit Director for Industrial Materials at Chase Corporation, said:

We are seeing the technology limits being pushed across all industries and we must ensure that we continue to stay ahead of the technology curve in order to meet these demands. Chase continues to develop innovative ways to leverage our technology portfolio. The Radiance range of products was introduced as a means to allow all markets to experience the benefits of enhanced reliability and protection from harsh environments. In RADIANCE CF10 we have demonstrated this philosophy.

Radiance Introduces SA50 protective coating for anodized substrates

Chase Corporation, a leading manufacturer of protective materials for high reliability applications has announced the launch of a new product to the Global market providing a cost effective and reliable protective barrier with excellent surface adhesion for anodized aluminum substrates used in applications exposed to adverse operating environments. RADIANCE SA50 is designed to provide superior protection against chemical exposure, thermal cycling and high humidity applications

SA50 has been specifically developed to meet the demanding needs in applications that commonly use aluminum identification plates such as those used in the aerospace and automotive sectors.  These plates are exposed to extreme operating environments that result in corrosion. The protective coating can be applied in a number of ways such as brushing or automatic dispensing. The product is designed to be cured to a tack free surface by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light.

RADIANCE SA50 also has a secondary moisture cure mechanism that will cure unexposed / shadowed areas of the coating at ambient conditions. This secondary curing process also imparts additional adhesion and chemical resistance to the coating.
